What are the post popular destinations in Mexico for international tourism?
According to figures estimated by the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) the most visited destinations for this summer holiday period by foreign tourists will be: Cancun (26.1%), Riviera Maya (22.2%), Mexico City (9.2%), Los Cabos (7.4%), Mazatlan (5.2%) and Guadalajara (2.9%).
Miguel Torruco Marqués, Secretary of Tourism, informed during the inauguration of the exhibition of products from Queretaro in the Punto México space of said dependency, which, according to projections of the Sectur, the total number of tourists lodged, for this holiday period, in the hotel chains will be 15 million 969 thousand 723, that is, 2.61% more than in 2018.
Of which three million 836 thousand 499 will be international tourists, which will thus exceed 1.4% those who arrived last summer; this will leave an economic income of three thousand 760 million dollars and represent an increase of 15.5% over the same period last year (July-August).
The main countries from which these travelers will come are: the United States (59.8%), Canada (5.2%), the United Kingdom (4.1%), Colombia (3.2%), Spain (3.0%), Argentina (2.3%), Brazil ( 2.0%), France (1.7%), Peru (1.6%) and Germany (1.4%).
Domestic travelers will amount to 12 million 133 thousand 224, which will mean a rise of 3%, so it is estimated that they will spend 36 thousand 574 million pesos, equivalent to one thousand 925 million dollars, reflecting an increase of 3.6% compared with the same period last year, the official mentioned.
In addition, noted that the average hotel occupancy during vacation mentioned is anticipated at 63.9%, 1.2 percentage points less than what was recorded in the previous period, because the supply of rooms increased 2% in the last year.

Several locations in Quintana Roo have merged the tourism and real estate industry in order to allow more occupation, but Playa del Carmen and Tulum exceed all expectations in regards of ROI.
