It was 2006 when the first golf course part of the PGA tour was inaugurated, not only in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, or Mexico but in the whole Latin America by hosting the OHL Classic in 2007, the first PGA TOUR tournament outside the United States. States and Canada. Play with a PAR 71 for a professional competition.
This golf course was also the first designed by Australian Greg Norman in the country. A 7024-yard field with stunning views of the three different ecosystems of Mayakoba; the coast of the Caribbean Sea, the Mayan rainforest, and the mangrove wetlands.
El Camaleón has the capacity for golfers of all levels, with five starting marks on each hole and with distinctive hazards in the area such as cenotes, bunkers, and crystal clear water canals. It is certified by Audubon International as a Cooperative Sanctuary for its commitment to the environment since the ecological practices they follow meets the standards required to protect and maintain the land, water, natural resources, and the habit of wildlife around, like the rest of the Mayakoba Complex, El Camaleón Golf Course is full of a diversity of wildlife that golfers can enjoy during their game.
